Hello everyone, my name is Cameron Thomas, and this is the first blog I have ever written. I suppose for the first one is will tell a little bit about me and what I hope to get out of this course, and my education at Eastern. I first would like to say that I am not extremely knowledgeable about computers. Do not get me wrong I know how to use them, as far as running programs and accessing the Internet for the boundless amount of things you can do with it. However, I am very new to the inner workings of a computer and the true and almost limitless capabilities that it has.
As I'm sure most people in this class are, I am a business major. I am undecided on to which Field I will be progressing, but at the moment am leaning towards Eastern's entrepreneurship program. I have always been interested in making money, and I feel that running my own company is the best way to do it. I feel that this course in Informational Systems is very important, because technology is the wave of the future and understanding it will be key in order to move up in the business world and life in general.
As far as the course material goes, I liked the discussion on companies pioneering new techniques and technologies; especially the slides on Steve Jobs and Bill Gates. These are two of the greatest entrepreneurs of our time, who say the vast opportunities that lie in the technological Field. I have researched them before for various school work and other things. I like Steve Jobs in particular because he is successful at almost every project he attempts. He is so successful because he puts a tremendous amount of effort into everything that he does, and it shows.
The development that individuals and teams of intelligent people can have on technology simply amazes me. I love learning about how creative and intelligent thinkers change society. I hope we will do more of this as the course progresses. For now I will keep on coming to class with an open mind, and the hope of learning new and valuable material which will help me understand informational systems so that I can put them into use for the rest of my life.

Hello Cameron,
ReplyDeleteThis will also be my first time ever blogging, I'm interested in trying something new so this shouold be cool. I realize that we have a lot in common. I'm also a Business major, yet undecided about which field I should go into. I am also leaning towards entreprenuership and totally believe the best way to become wealthy is to work for myself. Like you, I am also not familiar with the inner workings of computers but interested to learn. So, this should be a good experience for the both of us.
Hey Cameron,
ReplyDeleteThis my first blog ever to and I'm glad to know you are a business major too. I'm not sure where my business may take me but I hope you enjoy this class and me as I will enjoy you.
Hey, I'm Ashley, this is my first time blogging as well. I'm a business major as well, just general though so that I have a few places to use it. And I'm interested in learning the inner workings of the computers also.
ReplyDeleteHey Cameron. I'm Jeff and this is also my first time blogging. Bill Gates and Steve Jobs are very good entrepreneurs to model after. If you are more curious about them I recommend watching the movie Pirates of Silicon Valley. It is a made-for-TV movie about the history of Microsoft and Apple that I watched in a previous course.
ReplyDeleteI am glad to know that there are other students as interested in business and entrepreneurship as I am. I will also look into the Pirates of Silicon Valley, it sound like an informational movie. I tried to set up links to show more information on Bill Gates and Streve Jobs, but I can not seem to do it and will have to figure it out in class tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteHello Cameron,
ReplyDeleteMy name is Jack and I think its cool that you are a business major. This is not my first time blogging I had to do it before in another class. I am interested in learning about this class.
This is also my first time ever blogging, and i never thought that i would ever do. It seems to be a very easy way to communicate with other whether it is a class assignment or just with friends. I was going into business as a major but i have changed my major to accounting which right now i think i will like it, but i have heard that it's a tough degree to get.
