Measurements and Their Importance

Businesses have a lot of things to worry about. Things ranging from inventory, salaries, customer satisfaction, employee efficiency, and shipping and recieving just to name a few. Without any sort of system to organize all of this information, chaos would erupt and order would be thrown out of the window, forcing businesses to shut down. All of these things have to be kept track of and the information needs to be readily accessible at any given time to ensure that the company is profitable and is running as efficiently and smoothly as it can be. This is where measurements come in.

Measurements are the key to organizing and tabulating all of the information thrown at businesses on a daily basis. Take my first example, inventory. If companies had no idea how much materials cost or how much is needed or has been used, it would cause a lot of problems. Materials need to be measured in a way that is clear and precise to both the company buying and the company selling those materials. Having universal measures such as pounds, feet, or gallons allow an easy way to convey orders and measure how much is used or needed.

Measurements are also important for things other than materials and other things directly related to the good such as customer satisfaction. The most successful businesses are the ones with the highest customer satisfaction, so this is an important thing for businesses to keep track of and be aware of. There are many different programs and techniques to measure customer satisfaction. One of these such programs is Kampyle. This program helps website owners to create feedback forms that are made easily available to viewers on the website by simply clicking a button that takes them directly to it. The information from the form is then sent back to the website owner, allowing them access to all of the measurements Kampyle had made.

Measurements is a key integral part in the business world. Efficient businesses are aware of their importance and have systems that help them keep track of all of the different measurements they have to deal with.

  1. I also wrote my blog on the importance of measurement in business. I completely agree with you that successful businesses must attempt to track their customer satisfaction. I was trying to think of a downside to the consumer satisfaction monitoring and I could only come up with one. My only fear of measurement and customer satisfaction is that businesses tend to hyperfocus on the newest thing. The overfocus on tracking customer satisfaction could be detrimental to companies because the focus could possibly go to tracking and away from the actual customer service aspect. This is especially possible in smaller companies. Afterall, you will have to get the manpower and effort to do this from somewhere. If you transfer this effort to tracking it very well could slip from customer service.

  2. I strongly agree with you. Measurement teaches us how to avoid or solve some problems in life and it also gives us what we want, such as information, data, and source. Every businessman experiences the benefit it brings.
