My blog today has one main question and some research to go behind it. My question is why do we as a human race need to work to survive? Is it the fact that we now as instinct that if we don’t work then nothing will progress? From childhood I have always wondered what would happen to society if there were no economy, consumers, production, supply, demand etc. Would our world fall just because of the simplest things won’t be done anymore or will we as one continue to live on with things and not worry about it.
Most of our nation does revolve around these elements in order to survive. For a good example we as Americans strive off of economics and without our country would be a huge disaster. We can basically use anything to make a profit from it. Raw materials to chemicals that are made from scientists. Overtime we as a generation evolved greatly .
Another thing that kind of got to me is the fact that our society relies on technology and the amount of production we produce daily. If all these things stop a lot of people wouldn’t know what to do.
You are correct that technology has helped us out as a people and a growing nation. But I dont think all technology is a necessity. Some of it has hendered us, made us lazy. We sometimes depend on it a little too much. For example, back in August 2003, we had a blackout on the entire east coast. We couldnt use cell phones, televisions, mircowaves, and computers. Most people were lost and couldnt cope. I know a few people couldnt even use there house phone because all they had were cordless phones that ran off of electricity. We are too content with new technology and never take time to see where it came from and how things were done before it existed. We should take time to see what we can do without technology, and we'll see we can get by without it, but some does really help especially in the health field.
ReplyDeleteIf we as a human race went from what we know today, to a life of no economy, consumers, production, supply, demand etc. I think we would seriously go insane. Although people hate working, it's what makes up a huge part of us. Have you ever noticed that when you get a break from work or school that after a while you are bored and can't wait to go back? If everything stopped our civilization would die, and I'm sure a big cause would be us killing each other for lack of supplies. lol
ReplyDeleteThe structure of how things right now is what keeps the world going. Communication is key to how everything stays together. working is key to help make new products and to keep everyone busy enough that we are not just at home all the time. If we did not work then we would have nothing to show for it, i agree that when i have too long of time off with work or school then i get really bored and want to go back so that i can keep myself busy.
ReplyDeleteIt's also interesting to note how most advances in communications technology have come from industrialized countries. Members of the former Soviet bloc did little after developing Sputnik-I in 1957. Could there be a relationship between communications development and "free countries?"
ReplyDeleteOh wow! I really can't imagine a world without work. Would we not need money for things? Would everything in life just be given to us? There are so many questions! I think technology has definitely become a major asset in the life of most people. Without it, many would not know ow to conduct one day in their life. That would be an interesting experiment.
ReplyDeleteEverybody's always working towards something in their life. Instead of the basic need to survive anymore, its that on top of what you want to do with life, for other people, for security and protection, etc. Since there are so many of us, we need some type of organization and some way to grow together. Without it, mass chaos would break through. We do rely on our technology too much as well. Look at cars. you're looked at as a loser basically if you don't own a car or a cell phone anymore. As always, though, humans will adapt and make the best of what they've got.
