My first Post =)
Hello, My name is Tanai Kuykendall and I'm a SOPHOMORE here at EMU. My major is Finance, and I'm still undecided as to if I want a a minor. When entering this class, I thought I was going to be in an actual computer class..not learning the history behind it. At first, I can't even lie it was a little boring, but as I began to actually pay attention and try my best to learn something, I became interested. I know this is only the second week of school and we really haven't learned that much, but , honestly, I can't wait intake more knowledge =).
Ok so in the first two weeks of class , we discussed the history of Information systems. So aparently the first programable computer was created in 1951. And basically, these were not the "typical" computer that we use today. They were used mainly in the wars to detect, help, and defeat. But the main thing that caught my attention was how Apple had technology on the market in the 70's. I swear I thought this cute computer (the pic above) that I had to have. I had no clue Apple had a wooden computer. Wow!!! After that I was pretty amazed and I definitely looked over the Internet for more info on the history of this computer.
So I want the moral of my story to be on how everything that may seem boring in the beginning does not have to be that way if you don't want it to. I wish everyone good luck this semester. I hope everyone remains focused throughout everything and I just want everyone to just TRY because eventually, you'll actually learn something.

I had no idea either that Apple had a wooden computer! As the current owner of both a Mac and a PC, I have to say that I feel that Mac's make the better computer.
ReplyDeleteGood luck to you as well in this semester!
I definitely thought that we would be working with computers in class too! And I have to say that I wasn't to interested in this class to begin with either, but have found that it's nice knowing more background information about all of the technology we use today.
ReplyDeleteWhen i saw the wooden computer I was definitely confused. It seemed crazy, but so does bluetooth and instant messaging. As far as the class being boring, I must agree, but I think there is much to learn about Information systems. As crazy as it may seem, I am 'slightly' looking forward to what we will learn in the next coming weeks.

The wooden apple computer really threw me for a loop as well. I actually had to give it a double look to make sure I was really looking at a wooden computer! I also thought it was going to be a boring class once i found out that we wren't going to be working with computers. I'm over that now and I'm looking forward to what will come up in the coming weeks.
ReplyDeleteThat was my first thought when i walked into the room, i was alittle confused to not see any computers, since this is my second computer class but my first at EMU. I have never been an apple man, since i have always had a pc, but someday i would like to try out an apple. The fact that apple had an wooden computer is really amazing to see how far computers have come.
