I have never had or been apart of a blog before and I thought it would only be appropriate to blog about my experience. I always looked at blogging as something that the nerdy did when they were bored. Something to do when your sick of playing video games. When you need to know how to get past a level in the latest video game. I never really looked to see the purpose behind blogging. There really are many benefits of blogging besides getting the latest nerd news. I found that blogging got to be more and more interesting and I can see how with a large amount of people that this is an great way to get ideas out there.
I wrote several blogs about what was going in class, but the blogs that I really like are ones that other's did on the same topic. Blogging has been a great way too see how others think about everyday topics. I noticed that RFID chips are blogged about a lot and I thought it was cool to be able to see how many different opinions there were. From those who can't wait too those who would never even consider it. It seems like blogging is the most civilized way to have a discussion with a large group of people. this way you can wright what you think and anyone who wants can comment. This is a lot easier because it lets everyone talk at the same time, but also stay on topic.
The networking possibilities are also good. You can easily see how people would get to know each other. I can also see this being used to talk about your self or even as a way to get to know those your work with. It seem like the more your interested in the topic the better the discussion and the better quality information. This kind of naturally will let you see out of all those your blogging with who is interested in the same things you are. I blogged about some of the worst inventions which was something I really thought was interesting. I saw that there ended up being a lot of comments on it. Blogging has a lot of different uses and I think that if you use it wisely it can really help you succeed in the sharing of ideas.

Blogging for Business!

As an international marketing major i was intrigued by the case we talked about in class about the tiny little South African wine company that got its start by starting a blog and supplying the wine for a few friendly dinner parties. I think this was absolutely ingenius! As a small new company they dont have much to lose, and they have everything to gain. for anyone who missed class, the case tells that the customers just had to host a dinner party, and fill out a quick survey after, and the company sent them a crate of wine for the get together.
After the part people could get online and blog about the experience and the product! How smart is this?! People dont even feel as if they're doing a lame survey, while they provide quality information to that wine company. People rely on the internet for info more and more, so why not let other people boradcast your good name for you?! Thats the best PR i've ever heard of.
From the view point of the large firm it can be a little trickier. They may already have a good household name and they may not want to ruin that image, however this form of consumer input may be innovative enough to help the firm to keep their competitive edge longer. One example i was thinking of was Clorox Green Works. Its an all natural line of household cleaners, that are said to do the job of the original without all the harmful ingriedients. Many housewives are reluctant to change their tried and true cleaners especially to some "expensive all-natural cleaner." This is where blogging would come in really handy, because Clorox could offer to send out GreenWorks cleaning supplies to customers who're remodeling, redecorating, or moving and have them blog about it! I think this would be a great way to get the GreenWorks product line growing!

Viacom vs. YouTube(Google)

Viacom is suing YouTube(Google) for copywrite infractions involving the airing of uploaded videos on YouTube's site. Viacom says, "YouTube was intentionally built on infringement and there are countless internal YouTube communications demonstrating that YouTube's founders and its employees intended to profit from that infringement." Actually this is an interesting lawsuit, in the fact that Viacom employees were intentionally uploading videos onto the site. Viacom was uploading these videos to promote their movies and television shows. This is a legal test for who is responsible for the content on a website.
As of this minute, the law states that you are responsible for all the information (postings) on your website or webpage. For instance Facebook, Facebook wouldn't necessarily be held liable for each individual webpage on its service. In that case, you would be liable for any and all postings on "your" site. People don't realize that anything that you post on your MySpace, Twitter, or Facebook, is memorialized forever and you can't necessarily take it back. You could be sued for either slander or libel.
Viacom is asking YouTube(Google) to remove all of the illegal (pirated) videos posted on the YouTube site, even the ones that Viacom itself posted. I do not agree with Viacom in this matter. Not only did they post themselves, but they also received a benefit from the postings on YouTube. I believe they (YouTube) should not be able to post these videos beyond a certain date. They should not have to decipher the videos, and who posted them, from the past. I have included a blog that has many different opinions.

First Blog
Hello everyone my name is Hassan Perez. Although, for a lot of my classmates this is their first semester or first year at Eastern, this, however, is not the case for me. I came to Eastern in 2006 originally as a Music Ed student. I decided to change my major to Business Mgt because i was overwhelmed by the course, but decided to change my major back to Music Ed because it's my passion. So for some of you this class may come easy to you, but for me I feel that this class may be a little rough for me, and honestly I feel a little lost but I'm sure I'll pick it up. Now that you all know a little about me I'll get to the blog.
It seemed that WWII sparked an increase in technology and inventions. Scientist and engineers invented computers to intersect messages being sent back and forth from enemy countries. With the advancement of this technology, it was bound to leap over into other industries. With this, technology began to evolve into something more commercial. IBM lead this commercial leap with their first real-time business computer, SABRE. IBM also created a reservation system for airlines that made makeing reservations and holding them much easier then manually. With the first Network created in 1969, which only connected four cities, it wasnt long before the computer and the internet would evolve again.
I dont remember his name, but there was a classmate that brought up the theory about war beining the influence for the growth of techonology and I have to say I agree. After every war we have seen some sort of incline in techonology due to the need for new war technology. When the technology was no longer needed, or the technology created for the Military was needed somewhere else, we see new technology being introduced to the world.
