Language

One of several themes covered during our last class session was the purpose of language. Language is the cornerstone of success because it allows for a transmission of information. The transformation of ideas, thoughts, or concepts is known to be communication. The more each and every one of us communicates with his or her environment, the more educated he or she may make decisions. If more communication is actively sought, then the more educated one becomes.

Language has several different subcontexts, for example, we discussed how computers use language as a framework with which they may communicate among components. This was shown by our in-class sorting activity. There's also many structures in computer systems through which communication flows and data is organized, e.g. Hierarchical, Network, and Relational. What is so unique about computers is that they may communicate in very abstract logic. An example of this is a program where the computer is able to run a series of numbers and display them with complex priorities. Not only can computers do these complicated operations, but they can do them with extreme speed. This has led to rapid advances in our society.

Language will have a very interesting future. Globalization has rapidly shattered cultural and geographical boundaries. This has led to many more communication problems. The solution to this increased amount is highly likely to be solved by computers; for example, by creating another language.

  1. I think what you said about how computers will very likely solve communication problems in the world is very true. They only seem to be getting better every year, so I can very well see how they would be able to solve the problems of communication and other, just as important problems in this world.

  2. I also agree computers will solve the communication problems in the world. The technology in computers is advancing so quickly that a single person can ever say that they have the best piece of technology out there because a few minutes later someone else will have something better.

  3. Computers can already make translations for us, and provide a quick source of research into other cultures. I think that you are right, if anything can help us further bridge the gaps in communication, it is definitely computers!
