First IS 215 Blog Post

Hi, my name is Steve Maczko. I have always enjoyed working with computers. I have friends that are computer engineers so I have overheard a few things about how operating systems work. I knew that the binary number system was used to program mother boards, but other then that, I had no clue what that meant. I am glad that. Boolean logic is very interesting to me. It is interesting how they applied human logic to math, and created a entire computer language base around it.

Digital and analog have always been a mystery to me. I knew that digital was better then analog. Because everything that's new is digital. Analog seems to be a way of the past. I know when my cell phone switches to an analog signal it drains my battery 3 times faster then normal. The digital signal is the one on the top. The wave length is composed in a block like structure. The analog signal, which is on the bottom, resembles a more fluid like wave structure. You can fit much more data in a digital signal because the blocks can be crunched tightly togeather and built on top of itself. Unlike an analog signal that is limited because all the information must be organized in a streaming wave signal with noting being consolidated.

This class has been very interesting so far. I am looking forward to learning more about computer information systems. I have not purchased my books as of yet. I looked in the COB book store and they did not have either of the books this class requires. I will have run around town tomorrow and see whose got some in stock. After reading the blogging requirements it is interesting to learn that many big companies are adopting blogging as a core means of communication. I now realize why it is important to give serious attention to the quality, structure, and presentation of your blogs.

  1. I understand where you are coming from. There is one thing that I didn't understand about the Binary and Analog. I don't know why companies would use one and know another was better.
I agree with your statements about the class in the last paragraph. I want to have a better understanding of IS also.
