PDA's and Smart Phones

Smart phones and PDA's are extremely helpful when it comes to doing what a computer can do in today's society. I find them to both really useful because they are a good way to write up and read documents. For my PDA and my blackberry I use both of them to write up and read documents, keep my contact and personal information, and use as a planner. I use these just as much as my computer. The advantage for using these devices is because they are smaller and more portable. The only downfall to these devices from my own personal experience is that they have a smaller processing speed and doesn't have the processing speed of a computer.
With time and the rate technology is progressing these devices will improve dramatically. I would not seem to be able to live without my blackberry because I use it for everything not just for messaging and making calls. It does have a lot of capabilities just like a computer. I can play movies, listen to music, read word documents, excel project, and PowerPoint presentations. Since it is small portable I can use GPS on my cellphone and find directions to where i need to go. It can do more what a laptop or desktop can do to a certain point.
The drastic improvement that has been going into smart phones and doing what a computer can do is increasing constantly. Blackberry has been doing a lot of research when it comes to improving the computing capability and a video shows how much they have improved over the last few years. Even the improvement on what simple computers can do now being able improve their processing speed and being able to expand their capabilities. With all the technological advancement going into computers in today society what do you think will have within the next 10 or 20 years, and what kind of devices will be on the market for the average consumer.

  1. The smart phones are definitely a useful tool in today's business world. The company I work for provides me with a Blackberry that can receive emails and updates about sales orders, inventory needs, etc. I have never owned a "smart phone" before my company gave me one, now I know I'll never buy anything different.

The speed of the smart phone also amazes me. I can look up information on the internet just as easily as I could on a computer. I also like that you can plug your smart phone into a computer and upload information that you want to have backed up. Smart Phones are with out a doubt a huge step in the right direction for cellular communication in the business world.
