Giant ipod or great new technology?
I have personal feelings about the iPad. I persoanlly think that it is ugly, but looks aside I still dont like it. It can basically do anything that a normal laptop can do but it looks like a huge iPod touch. I like the iPod touch because I feel that it is truely a great new form of technology, but the ipad has already been done in the form of a mini laptop. I know that it's all touch and that is really neat and it has some of the signature apps, but there is not that big of a difference. The only apple thing that I own is an ipod touch and i really like it but as for everything else that apple has I do not like apple at all. I feel like everyone of most people that will use a laptop already have one and the only difference in the ipad is stuff that the ipod touch has to offer us. I dont know exactly what they ipod has qto offer but I am not impressed. I know I wont be in line to buy the new ipad.

Alot of people don't seem to like the Ipad. I personally do not know enough about it and have not done any research, the only thing I know about it is from people blogging about it but from what I have read from classmates, it doesn't seem that impressive. It seems as though what everyone is saying is that it's pretty much just a big ipod touch and has no new features. I don't see myself purchasing one either though.
ReplyDeleteI am curious if the IPad is a piece of the development puzzle towards "Laptop" size touch screen computers that you do not have to flip open and close. Now granted, I know nothing about the IPad aside from what I have read on the Blogs but my last Blog discussed the possibility of a full size computer desk that served as a touch screen computer monitor.
ReplyDeleteSilicon was introducing the idea in the early 2000's about creating something similar to the IPad only larger. Silicon's design was going to serve as an at home or office computer desk that was all touch screen and wireless.
It will be interesting to see how far Apple chooses to go with the IPad. If they continue to upgrade and truly turn it into a fully capable touch screen laptop. But just like you, I am not interested in buying one anytime soon.
I agree with everyone, in the fact that the Ipad seems to just be a large version of an Ipod Touch. I also personally see no need to own one. Spencer in his comment laid out my theory of the Ipad very clearly, that it is a step toward touch screen laptop/full size computers. The one remarkable thing that I have seen about the Ipad(and one of the forces most likely driving it)is the profit ratio that Apple will make on every unit sold. From a report I read in Business Week, the Ipad will cost consumers $500.00, while it will only cost Apple roughly $240.00 to produce. Either way the Ipad is a remarkable piece of technology, and no doubt a stepping stone into the future of touch screens.
