Apple is facing some good competition from Microsoft in the form of the newly Ezy Tablet PC. The device takes at least some design cues from the iPad and has the same design features as the Ipad does.

The handheld device has a larger, 10.2-inch screen and runs on Windows 7 with multi-touch, but in a much heavier (2.2 pounds) casing and with a 1.6GHz Atom. It runs on 2GB of RAM, a 2.5-inch, 250GB hard drive and a 1.3-megapixel camera, which the camera could be alittle better, Phones have better megapixels than that. It features both Wi-Fi and 3G. Expansion comes from three USB ports, a VGA output and a multi-format memory card reader. Battery life in the attempted tablet form factor comes in at about 3.5 hours, which is typical laptop battery life.

A single Ezy Tablet is now available and priced at $679, but ordering the device in larger quantities drops the unit price slightly, but who is going to buy more than one at a time??

  1. I could see companies buying them in bulk for their employees if they could benefit from having a touch screen computer. This could be particularly useful for employes who deal a lot with customers in person who need to visually see certain things. It would also be great in industries were people sketch, as the employee could sketch on the go without lugging around a ton of paperwork.

  2. I think this would be a big benefit if it could be bought in bulk for savings. I am an Apple fan so I guess I'm rooting for the iPad. But in all honesty I don't think these new touchscreens pads are necessary at all! We have super computers built into our phones, and super laptops and desktops so where does the need for the pads come in at? I just see them as a way for the companies to get more money out of us.

  3. See i already did a post on the ipad and how ugly it is and how I would never want it and maybe I just have some beef with apple because i think that I pretty much love the fact that microsoft is doing this. I dont know why it is but I like the idea of this so much better than the Ipad. I'm just a microsoft kind of girl I guess.

  4. These tablets are all a very cool, revolutionary idea, but I still take issue with the lack of a physical keyboard. The reason we still have them is because they are still the best way to type. Even with some of the newer ideas, like having to press the screen on the touch screen BlackBerries, I still find that it's easier to have a physical keyboard.

  5. The fact that Microsoft would come out with some kind of competitor to the Ipad was a given. However, I will admit the response was quicker and had far less coverage than I expected. I personally am an Apple fan, but I understand that Microsoft produces many fine products also. The Ipad and Ezy Tablet both seem a little unnecessary to me at the moment, as I personally see no need in having one, but judging by the hype around these products, I can see that some people/professions have many uses for this kind of technology.
