Blog # 11 - CyberKnife

In today's world we are experiencing new technologies that amaze me. In health care we have seen many technological advances that have been able to make procedures easier and have a quicker recovery time, and that is a great thing to do, cut down on recovery time. The reason that recovery time is so important is that you have been through a procedure that has been mentally taxing, so cutting down on recovery time would help get your physical and mental strength back.
Today i will be talking about an advance in technology that will make surgery for cancerous problems easier and less recovery time in the long run. This product is the CyberKnife. The cyberknife is a great invention, what the cyberknife does is produces a high dose of radiation to a tumor, this treatment is pain free and non surgical (www.cyberknife.com/cyberknife). This treatment can be used for cancerous and non cancerous tumors. Cyberknife can be used for prostate, lung, brain, liver, and many more types of cancers. i heard about this product one day on the radio and decided to research it, to see what kind of machine has the power to remove tumors without making any surgical procedures. I believe that this is just the start to the great technology advances in health care.

  1. CyberKnife sounds like a true break-through in terms of treatment methods for cancerous tumors. Cancer is a sensitive subject for me; I have had multiple family members suffer from this terrible disease. CyberKnife offers a new approach to dealing with a disease as deadly as cancer. It can attack tumors located in areas of the body that doctors have had difficulty dealing with in the past.

At this point in time over 80,000 patients have been treated with CyberKnife and over 190 systems have been installed in hospitals worldwide. CyberKnife attacks cancerous and noncancerous tumors located in areas such as the spine, lungs, brain, prostate, kidneys, and more.

The advantage to CyberKnife treatments is the efficiency, speed, and noninvasive procedure. CyberKnife sessions are quick and painless and more often than not, a patient can continue with his/her daily activities after a treatment session. CyberKnife does not create side effects such as hair loss and the side effects that most patients experience are gone by the second session.

CyberKnife appears to be a large advancement in health care and a giant step towards the proper treatment of the harmful disease known as cancer.

  2. I think that the cyber knife sounds like a great item but how effiencent would it be to use during a surgery. I would rather have someone cut me open the regular way.

  3. Cyber knife seems to be a huge step compared to regular kemo. Hopefully it will be successful and will catch on.

    1. Cyberknife is better then kemo and can be considered the best when we compare between the two.Cyberknife can deliver radiation with an extraordinary precision saving the surrounding critical organs of unnecessary exposure.
